Summer Extravaganza - Sunny Sports

Today we will see about the Forms and Equipment of the game of Cricket. Before that, let me tell you that the first edition of the FactBook has been released online. To read it, visit this link.

We begin with the three main forms of cricket.

Test Cricket is the highest and most prestigious form of cricket that was first played between England and Australia in the 1876-1877 Australian season. Since that time, 8 more nations have been granted the statue of 'Test Playing Nations.' A Test Match generally lasts for 5 days and can also result in a draw. Both the teams get 2 innings to bowl and bat respectively.

ODI or One Day International is a form of cricket that has only 50 overs per side while one side bats and the other bowls. It generally finishes in 8 hours, and is therefore called ODI. This form of cricket was first played between England and Australia in 1971.

Twenty-20 is a relatively newer version of Cricket in which each side has only 20 overs in which one side bats while the other bowls. It was first invented by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003.

Now let us move on to the equipment used in cricket. The Game's equipment includes - Bat, Ball, Stumps, Sight Screen, Boundary Rope, Cameras (StumpCam, Third Umpire Cam e.t.c.), Bails e.t.c. The Clothing used in cricket includes - Helmet, Leg Pads, Gloves, Wicket-Keeper Gloves, Thigh, Arm and Chest Guard and general wear.

Tomorrow will be the last day of Cricket.
