Quoty Quotes

We have finally come to the end of the Summer Extravaganza and today we begin freshly with a new series called "Quoty Quotes". It will work like this: everyday 5 random quotes from the field of science will be posted along with the person in question. On the last day, 10 quotes will be posted, totaling to 50 quotes at the end of the series. The 5 quotes for today are:

A fact is a simple statement that everyone believes. It is innocent, unless found guilty. A hypothesis is a novel suggestion that no one wants to believe. It is guilty, until found effective.
Edward Tenner

A scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.
Max Planck

A year spent in artificial intelligence is enough to make one believe in God.
Alan Perlis

Aerodynamically, the bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn't know it so it goes on flying anyway.
Mary Kay Ash

Linus Pauling
