What's Behind the Name? - Easter Sunday

Today is Easter Sunday, about which I mentioned in the 'Good Friday' post. We are going to see the origin and etymology of Easter Sunday, and its significance in this fact.

Easter Sunday is also known as Easter Day, Resurrection Sunday or Resurrection Day and according to a Christian Scripture, Jesus was resurrected from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. This day is celebrated 2 days after Good Friday and 3 days after Maundy Thursday. Easter also marks the end of the Lent Season. The modern English term Easter developed from the Old English word Eastre or Eostre or Eoaster. Relatively newer elements such as Easter Bunny and Easter Egg have become a part of the celebrations of Easter Sunday.
